The Wits School of Governance (WSG) is a well-recognised school on governance in Africa. The school has been in existence for over two decades. It runs academic programmes and executive education training targeted at individuals with interests in governance as broadly defined. It has delivered training to public sector officials, the not-for-profit sector, and business leaders who work at the intersection of corporate strategy and public policy. The school is interdisciplinary, and it boast a diverse faculty, and is based in the economic hub of South Africa, in easy proximity of the country’s most vibrant cities.

WSG invites talented, qualified, and self-driven individuals to apply for the position of Programme Coordinator, currently vacant at the Civic Tech Innovation Network (CTIN), a grant-funded programme of Wits (https://civictech.africa/)  on a two-year contract.

Main purpose:

The main purpose of this position/job is:

To provide strategic and operational management of the Community of Practice/network and its resources towards ensuring the organisation’s successful mission attainment, good governance and sustainability.

Key responsibilities include the following:

  • Strategic management
  • Programme and operations management
  • Project coordination across various streams
  • Resource management
  • Proposal development and resource mobilisation
  • Research oversight
  • Monitoring, evaluation, and reporting

Minimum academic requirements and experience:

  • A relevant qualification (minimum Honors) from an accredited university or institution. Candidates may come from a wide range of fields.
  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Experience in Higher Education advantageous
