Green Leaf AI

Green Leaf AI is an AgriTech startup that leverages artificial intelligence to help smallholder farmers detect plant diseases early. We use machine learning models to analyze images of crops, particularly date palm trees, providing real-time diagnoses and tailored solutions to farmers. We address the challenge of plant diseases that affect crop yields, particularly in date palms. Farmers often struggle with late detection of diseases, leading to significant losses in production and income.

Our solution is a platform powered by AI that allows farmers to upload images of their crops. The AI algorithm diagnoses diseases early, offering precise treatment suggestions and reducing the spread of infections. This empowers farmers to manage plant health proactively and increase yields. Our goal is to improve crop yields, reduce pesticide use, and promote sustainable agricultural practices. Initially targeting the Draa Tafilalt region in Morocco, we plan to expand to other regions and countries with significant date palm cultivation.

At Green Leaf AI, we believe in the transformative power of digital agriculture to revolutionize farming practices, especially in regions prone to environmental challenges. Our initiative aligns with several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including zero hunger, climate action, and responsible consumption and production. We collaborate with agricultural cooperatives, universities and research institutes to build a network of skilled professionals. For example, we have been collaborating with the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Benguérir, Morocco. We presented our solution at the Africa Smart City Forum (ASCF) at UM6P in Benguérir (17-19 March 2024). Green Leaf AI was one of the 10 start-ups exhibiting at the Smart City Innovation Expo (SInov-City) at ASCF2024.

Through initiatives like Civic Tech Innovation Forum, we are eager to showcase our solution, build collaborations, and contribute to the broader discourse on how technology can drive social and environmental impact in Africa.
