You are invited to exhibit at the #UnderTheHood conference this October

You are invited to exhibit yours or your organisation’s civic tech innovation initiatives at the Civic Tech Innovation Forum being held on the 28th – 31st October 2024. The Civic Tech Innovation Network is once again hosting its annual civic tech conference at the Tshimologong Digital Innovation Precinct in Johannesburg, South Africa.

This year’s exhibition will focus on innovation that will unveil Africa’s ingenuity and its creative spirit in creating sustainable civic tech solutions for African communities. The #UnderTheHood virtual exhibition, which will be live from September 2024, aims to reveal the impact of civic technology on the African continent.

For the showcase, we are inviting civic tech innovators who have something exciting to share which may include:

  1. Impact Stories – practical experiences, results, and lessons learned
  1. Newbies – Starting out stories by new innovators in civic tech
  1. Cutting edge – new methods/tools/techniques, experimental projects, etc.
  1. Change-makers – Examples of where people are creatively solving their own problems through data / digital innovation around Africa
  1. Ecosystem supporters and enablers – Toolkits, training, services, etc. that are enabling civic tech

The CTIF annual conferences are intended to enable civic tech and media innovation communities to engage face-to-face, learn about innovations, tools, and techniques, share experiences, and meet potential collaborators. The event presents an opportunity for attendees to gain an overview of the developments in the civic tech and media innovation sectors in Africa and the rest of the world.

Objectives of the Exhibition

  • To provide an interactive platform for sharing practical knowledge and ideas on African civic tech and media innovation;
  • To showcase the current and potential contribution of technology and its civic uses;
  • To provide a platform for networking for the African civic tech and media innovation communities;
  • To provide access to #UnderTheHood conference attendees to directly engage with practitioners of civic tech and media innovation initiatives, ask questions, engage, and build possible collaborations where civic / media and digital innovations overlap.

This exhibition will be virtual. Ideally, each exhibit comprises showcase materials that give a rich exposure to the initiative being presented, including for example: posters, slideshow, demo or marketing video /animation, photos, any documentation (report, article, brochure, etc.), links, etc., plus follow-up contact information. The booths are expected to be as creative and informative as possible, to invite interest and engagement.

In addition, the exhibitors will take part in a webinar format presentation called the ‘exhibition hangouts’ happening on 3 Mondays in the month of October, including the 14th, 21st and 28th of October 2024
