The Civic Tech Innovation Network (CTIN) is convening an open forum to bring together South Africa’s civic tech community, both governmental and non-governmental for the purpose of sharing, learning, inspiring, and overall capability building.

This event is for all people who work on building relationships between government and citizens, and are interested in how new technologies could enable better services, communication and accountability.

Programme Highlights

Keynote from Audrey Tang, Digital Minister, Taiwan
Audrey is one of the hacktivists of the g0v civic tech movement who was appointed a government minister in 2016 and has driven radical tech-enabled approaches to transparency and participation. She will share her ideas for future directions of tech-enabled governance.

Keynote form Tiago Peixoto, World Bank
Tiago is one of the leading researchers on global civic tech and the author of Civic Tech in the Global South. Tiago will share his critical perspective on what is working and what is not working in civic technologies.

Keynote from Digital Activism Workshop with Nicole Carty, Momentum and Powerlabs (US)
Nicole is a trainer in digital activism and an activist of Occupy and the Movement for Black Lives.

Smart Cities with Nishendra Moodley, National Treasury and metro digital leaders
Nishendra from the Treasury’s City Support Programme and some of the metro’s leading digital voices will be examining how
