Speaker Bio

Asmeret Mikael is currently working as a Digital and Governance Junior Advisor at the German development cooperation (GIZ) office based in Addis Ababa, for a project with the African Union. The DataCipation Programme is aiming to achieve harmonized and inclusive digital and data policies in Africa, while also supporting several digital-led citizen engagement initiatives that align with the Agenda 2063. Before that she also worked in the GIZ Comeptencecenter for the Division: Governance & Conflict. There she took part in the further development of the PartiCipate website, a digital one-stop-shop that enables inclusive citizen participation processes for more meaningful decision-making. She holds a master’s degree in European studies, an interdisciplinary course that focuses on European politics, law and economy.
