Session Overview
The African Union’s Innovation Lab, an initiative of the One Million Next level and housed within the African Union Commission’s Women, Gender, and Youth Directorate (WGYD), aims to be at the forefront of driving technological and innovative approaches across the continent. The Lab seeks to serve as a catalyst for developing and scaling solutions that address the unique challenges faced within the African Union and its Member States. Central to this mission is the exploration and promotion of civic technology, which empowers citizens, enhances governance, and fosters community development.
Key Objectives:
- Showcase the Role of the AU Innovation Lab: Highlight the Lab’s commitment to fostering an enabling environment for civic tech innovations that can drive sustainable community development, including highlighting the Civic Tech Fund.
- Identify Development Opportunities: Explore the ways in which civic tech can be leveraged to address the developmental challenges in AU Member States.
- Analyse Disablers and Enablers: Understand the barriers and successes to civic tech adoption and identify the factors that can enable these technologies to thrive.
