Session Description:

The past three years have seen both rapid adoption of e-commerce, an already growing trend enhanced by the COVID-19 pandemic, and a rise in regulatory concerns surrounding the industry. The latter has been most notable with regard to competition law, with the Competition Commission’s Online Intermediation Platform Market Inquiry. The findings of this inquiry and the potential of further efforts to regulate the industry raise important questions about regulatory options to ensure the sector can continue to grow and that it has broad societal benefits. This panel will bring together industry leaders, new entrants, government officials, and academic experts to discuss this.
