Brief overview of the Case Study
ZongoVation Hub is an innovation and entrepreneurship organization dedicated to accelerating the application of social capital and technology for economic prosperity in Zongo communities Across Ghana.
Zongovation Hub is leading the zongo Tech revolution to train and develop 100,000 tech entrepreneurs and professionals from the Zongo communities in Ghana by the year 2030 in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The organization will establish centers across all 16 regions of Ghana in the pursuit of this agenda to make the Zongo communities the tech hub in Africa.
The Hub is a place for technologists, entrepreneurs, and the youth from Zongo Communities to co-create new solutions to the many socio-economic problem problems in the Zongo communities.
The challenge or problem
Economic stagnation and strife have plagued Ghana for several years and have negatively impacted all sectors of society. This impact, in turn, negatively affected Ghanaians themselves, who faced economic turmoil without sustainable solutions.
The solution that was implemented
In order to alleviate the economic difficulties faced by Ghanaians, Zongovation Hub focuses on providing citizens with training and equipping them with skills they can use in entrepreneurial ventures. The organisation also assists start-ups with funding and hosts programs from which both male and female entrepreneurs can benefit.
What results were achieved?
By training citizens, Zongovation Hub has trained over 200 people through seven programmes and has funded four start-ups. These have assisted not only individuals, but have contributed toward economic growth.
Lessons and recommendations
Zongovation Hub focuses on gender equality, an important component of economic growth. Moreover, by funding start-ups, the organisation has allowed for a degree of independence to be achieved by its trainees.
