Initiative Description

Gender Tech Initiative - Uganda (GTI-U) is a female led organisation that has been advocating for the digital rights of women and young school girls. Most of the work that GTI-U does is to ensure that women and young girls leverage on the benefits of technology. Their work also supports these young women with digital literacy and digital security skills in order for them to mitigate threats to digital attacks and protect themselves from online harassment. GTI-U has worked with journalists, university and secondary students, primary school pupils, female civil society heads, and young school girls, among others. They are currently running a School ICT-Club project in selected schools in Northern Uganda to empower young school girls to embrace Science and Technology and consider tech-related careers.
