Session Overview:

In this session, we shall walk through the journey of collaborative designing(co-design) of AI and other emerging technologies in the African context. The session will draw from my PhD research and other studies to unveil ontological politics that exist within and between spaces that shape AI sociotechnical systems, the barriers they create to the inclusive design of AI technologies and how these barriers can be navigated through intentional, reflexive and practical steps of collaborating with different entities. This entails going beyond disciplinary boundaries to create solutions that produce better possibilities for humanity and nature.

Session Objectives:

1. The session will engage the participants to co-imagine co-design of AI
2. Share research findings and examples of how situated the knowledge that shapes AI are.
3. Suggest practical ways of enhancing collaborative designing that produce greater solutions fro everyone.
