Session Overview
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing how we analyse and tackle problems, but comes with uncertainty and risk regarding transparency, accountability, inherent biases and fairness. This session will explore the role and use of AI to support more ethical governance in African countries. The discussion will be framed from the lens of civil society organisations both in the civic tech and media industries.
Proposed Format:
This session is envisaged to include an opening plenary which sets the stage and shares some common information about the sub-theme, as it links to the #AfricaFlows conference theme. We then go into an AI World Cafe format, where participants will be broken into groups and will be allocated 20-30 minutes to spend at various stations. At these stations will be hosts who are encouraged to give a short (5-7) min presentation/talk on their initiative/application/case study/prototype, followed by audience engagement (including a Q&A).
