The second round of the AUCTF presents an opportunity for dynamic African organizations, initiatives, and projects. This 12-month initiative will catalyse and scale innovative civic tech solutions that harness the power of technology to drive citizen-led transformative action across the African continent. In particular, these grantees responds to the need to drive forward meaningful citizen participation in spaces of governance through the innovative use of data and digital technologies to address governance and development challenges while recognising the central importance of Africa’s youth in shaping the future of the continent.

NigeriaData-Driven Digital Promise Tracker Tool for Citizens
AdvoKC Foundation develops data-driven promise meters that meticulously track political commitments made by politicians during election campaigns, with a specific focus on commitments impacting the socio-economic conditions of underserved communities.
The resulting quantifiable metrics are compiled into accessible formats, empowering citizens to engage easily. AdvoKC has a focus on youth, women and persons with. The initiative has an established platform with potential to scale and have a positive impact.

Empowering Smallholder-Farmers through Artificial Intelligence in Underserved Communities
FarmAI contributes to empowering Smallholder-Farmers through Artificial Intelligence in Underserved Communities. FarmAI is a sustainable farming platform using AI to empower smallholder farmers, particularly women, with vital agricultural knowledge, including real-time insights, recommendations and market opportunities.
At the heart of this project is smallholder farmers’ empowerment, advocacy and agency. The project adopts an integrated and circular approach to food security and agriculture, demonstrating innovation through the use of AI.
Juris Law provides quick and easy access to Mozambican law with simplified language, images, and audio to make this information easy to understand.
A reporting mechanism is built into the Juris app to denounce injustice and corruption, including anonymous complaints.
Fighting for women’s wellbeing and safety: SmartRR initiative aims to reduce barriers to women accessing essential services in Africa.
The integrated mobile solution addressed gender-based violence through the rapid response and multilingual functionality, to enable women to report any form of abuse. The platform also enables civic participation to ensure the inclusion of vulnerable groups.
CitizenChat is an AI-powered chatbot designed to empower citizens by providing access to key government information and facilitating interactive communication.
The platform enables citizens to engage with government services, access valuable information, and report queries or concerns in real-time.
Congo Report is a web and mobile platform that allows citizens to report a variety of issues, such as human rights violations, corruption, looting or fires, directly from their mobile phones.
This platform allows local authorities to monitor reported problems in real time, allowing them to react and solve these problems instantly and effectively.

UgandaReclaiming Spaces – Access to Gender Based Violence (GBV) Information for Rural Women in Uganda
Leveraging Interactive Voice Response (IVR) technology to provide a safe and anonymous space for individuals to access vital information and support for GBV.
Users can engage with trained counsellors through a simple system of key presses, breaking down barriers to seeking assistance and fostering real-time support for victims.
Targeted at community leaders, NGOs, and civic groups working on the front lines of social change, Esheria LexChat serves as a resource for communities to access legal information, understanding local laws, engaging in public decision-making processes and collaborating on community-driven initiatives.
Arkam gathers, analyzes and presents relevant data on public policies in Africa to promote transparent and effective governance. The free data and statistics platform provides analytics for policymakers, while supporting journalists and citizens to access government data and information.

GunieaDigital observatory platform of the Guinean Parliament called “The People”
Ouvrir Les Horizons intervenes in the fields of participatory governance and education. Through “The People” platform, the organization contributes towards transparency by reporting on the work of parliament, offering citizens access to information related to the political exercise of parliamentarians and the drafting of bills.
Co-City is a transformative civic tech solution designed to enhance safety, governance, and citizen engagement in urban areas. The mobile application enables citizens to conveniently report incidents such as crime, corruption, bylaw infringements, and traffic violations directly to local authorities in real-time.
Co-City serves as a bridge between citizens and metro police, creating a more responsive, transparent, and data-driven approach to addressing urban challenges related to community safety.
The nidoroualmewaafe community, which means “we need water and well-being” in local Arabic, is driving positive change through digital technologies. Using GPS mapping technology, Nidoroualmewaafe identifies areas that do not have access to safe drinking water and shares this information with local authorities and communities to inform decision-making.
Maai Makwa uses civic technology, citizen science & community engagement to enhance personal & collective responsibility over freshwater resources in Kenya. The project empowers water-scarce, climate-vulnerable and disenfranchised communities with appropriate tools to track freshwater resource management to strengthen democratic processes on water rights.
By efficiently matching qualified teachers with schools in need, providing professional development opportunities, and fostering community engagement, the Teacher Bank is making a tangible difference in the lives of students and educators.
The Climate-Gender Data Gap Project is a pioneering initiative that addresses the unique challenges faced by women in the fishing sector due to rising water levels in Lake Tanganyika.
The project uses geospatial technology to co-create digital climate adaptation solutions for migrant, host and refugee communities with a special focus on food security, land planning and restoration.
