Mapping Public Transport

On 21 October 2019, Open Data Durban hosted a Peer Learning Event in collaboration with TaxiMap at the Durban University of Technology with Town Planning students in their third year. TaxiMap is a free to use an open-source platform that provides taxi route information online that is normally only known and shared via word of mouth.

The aim of the workshop was to ask students to verify existing information on the platform, to map new routes, and to provide feedback on the usability of TaxiMap as a commuter. We also wanted to provide some conceptual background on the importance of active citizenry and human-centred design for platforms like TaxiMap.
