Jam Café 3: Reimagining New Media and Voices

This session aimed to create space for the participants to reimagine new ways of delivering News in time where Africa is increasingly becoming younger and more urbanised. The conversation concluded with a consensus that traditional media will have to evolve to remain relevant to today’s audience and news will increasingly need to be packaged in bite-sized forms to suit different communities. These were the key themes that emerged from the Reimagining New Media and Voices webinar at the 2020 Urban Festival.

ACG clients include MTN, Barloworld, Accenture, AFIG Funds, Nesta, the African Development Bank (AfDB), and the Dalberg Group. Mimi started the company because of a need to tell African stories in an authentic, culturally nuanced way. She started the company with her own savings while working fulltime for an employer, and ventured out on her own in 2015. By constantly innovating on the business model, staying focused and building an ever-growing network of partners and clients, Mimi continue to grow the ACG brand in Africa.

Mimi is a New York University graduate. She was a finalist for International Africa Women of the Year at the Women4Africa Awards 2016. In December 2019, Reset Global People listed her in its annual Top 100 Women CEOs in Africa. Mimi is an Archbishop Tutu Leadership Program Fellow. An experienced executive, Mr. Aladekomo has worked extensively across media and marketing roles in Nigeria and North America. In Nigeria, he led the team that transformed the Guardian Nigeria into a top-notch digital media operation. He's worked in senior roles, leading digital for Heineken Nigeria (Nigerian Breweries) and heading one of West Africa's top digital agencies. He worked in the US for companies like Atlantic Records and The Futures Company, where he worked on global strategy briefs for brands from Coca-Cola to Unilever
