CTIF22 #UNPLUGGED (but still connecting)

Unplugged is a joint hybrid conference presented by Civic Tech Innovation Forum & Jamfest 2022. In this CTIF and Jamfest 2022, we invite African civic tech and media innovators and stakeholders to unplug but still connect through virtual and in-person engagement at CTIF and Jamfest. Through our conferences, we attempt to have real conversations about the positive and negative effects of digitalisation on our shared experiences. We will use the good, trusted power of storytelling to exchange stories. Various stakeholders will share how they are adapting to the observed market changes and how their accelerated journeys of digital transformation during COVID-19 have shaped their decisions. It is hoped that these stories will not only enlighten audiences to think about the residual impact of COVID-19 but also prepare the African civic tech and media community for the future.

About Civic Tech Innovation Forum 2022 (CTIF22):
Building on previous successes and lessons from the last five CTIF conferences, this year, the Civic Tech Innovation Network (CTIN) is doing CTIF a little differently. CTIF22 will be a hybrid event, featuring a full week exhibition, virtual events and a two-day in-person event in Johannesburg, South Africa. CTIF22 will have virtual sessions and activities from 03 to 19 October and the in-person event will be between 25 to 27 October 2022 at Tshimologong Precinct. The convening aims to bring Africa’s small but active civic tech community which includes both governmental and non-governmental together for the purpose of sharing, learning, inspiration and overall capacity building.

About Jamfest 2022
The annual Jamfest is an African media and information festival directed at a diverse set of African media makers and media public. This hybrid festival will be hosted virtually from 19 – 20 October 2022 and the in-person programme will be based at the Tshimologong Precinct from 24 – 25 October 2022. Jamfest will run concurrently with the Civic Tech Innovation Forum, African Investigative Journalism Conference (AIJC) and Fak’ugesi, where collaborative sessions will be available to Jamfest attendees.
