This workshop sought to utilise a fairly unique moment in global and national history to bring together education practitioners, researchers, learners and officials to discuss the implications of the Coronavirus on the South African, and in particular, the Eastern Cape Education sector. In particular - we hope to collectively meet the following objectives:

1. To interrogate the procurement process that the ECDoE recently underwent to source e-learning support in light of budget cuts in the supplementary budget and the crippling basic needs of many schools in the province
2. To contribute to current debate relating to procurement reform in South Africa
3. To begin a conversation about recovery and how to ‘build back better’ towards more accountable, equal and transformed education systems
4. To develop a clear set of recommendations to support accountable service delivery and rigorous oversight within the education system with a particular focus in provincial processes
